Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for Maximum Security

Protect your Sunapee.net account with TOTP Two-Factor Authentication using Google Authenticator, 1Password, or Apple Keychain.

1 What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

Two-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account. When enabled, signing in requires not only your password but also a temporary 6-digit code generated by an authenticator app on your smartphone.

2 How to Enable 2FA on Sunapee.net

1

Log in and navigate to Account Settings from the top right avatar menu (or visit /account).

2

Scroll down to the Two-Factor Authentication security section.

3

Click the "Enable Two-Factor Authentication" button.

4

Scan the displayed QR Code using your preferred authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator, Apple Passwords, 1Password, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator).

5

Save your Emergency Recovery Codes in a secure password manager. You can use these one-time codes to regain access if you ever lose your phone.

3 What Happens When You Sign In with 2FA Enabled?

After entering your email and password, the system will prompt you for the current 6-digit code from your authenticator app. If your phone is unavailable, click "Use a recovery code" to authenticate using one of your backup recovery codes.
